At the incidence rates given in Tables 1 through 4, back discomfort or myalgia was reported. Back pain or myalgia was common in tadalafil clinical pharmacology trials 12 to 24 hours after dosage and usually dissipated within 48 hours. The diffuse bilateral lower lumbar, gluteal, thigh, or thoracolumbar muscle soreness associated with tadalafil therapy was aggravated by recumbency, resulting in back pain/myalgia. However, severe back pain was observed with a low frequency (5% of all reports). Pain was reported as mild or moderate in severity and alleviated without medical care in the majority of cases. Acetaminophen or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines were generally effective when medical therapy was required; nevertheless, a mild narcotic (e.g., codeine) was utilized in a small percentage of participants who required treatment.
