Defeating zombies rewards you with diamonds and cash, which you can use to purchase additional troops, as well as enhance their stats and make them more powerful because the waves are only getting stronger. Defeat the waves of zombies in one level, upgrade your army, and then defeat the next wave of zombies until all of the levels have been finished.
