PCR plates are laboratory equipment designed for use in the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, which is a molecular biology method for amplifying DNA sequences. PCR plates typically come in the form of plastic trays or plates that contain a large number of small wells, or reaction chambers, arranged in a grid pattern. The most common type of PCR Plates has 96 wells arranged in an 8 x 12 format, but other sizes and formats are also available, including plates with 384 or 1536 wells for high-throughput applications. Each well is capable of holding a small volume of the reaction mixture, usually in the range of 10 to 200 microliters, depending on the plate size and the specific application.
