Forzest 20 mg is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It contains the active ingredient Tadalafil, which belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. The mechanism of action of Forzest 20 mg tablets involves its ability to inhibit the enzyme PDE5, which plays a role in the regulation of blood flow in the penis.
During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide is released in the erectile tissue of the penis, which activates an enzyme called guanylate cyclase. This enzyme increases the levels of a chemical called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which relaxes the smooth muscles in the penile blood vessels, allowing increased blood flow into the penis and resulting in an erection. PDE5 is an enzyme that breaks down cGMP, leading to a decrease in its levels and a reduction in blood flow to the penis, causing difficulty in achieving or maintaining an erection. By inhibiting PDE5, Forzest helps to maintain higher levels of cGMP, promoting the relaxation of smooth muscles and increasing blood flow to the penis, thus facilitating and sustaining an erection.
