Albendazole is a widely used antiparasitic medication that is highly effective in treating various types of worm infections in humans. It belongs to the class of benzimidazoles and works by inhibiting the worms’ ability to absorb glucose, leading to energy depletion and ultimately the death of the parasite. Albendazole 400 mg is effective against a broad range of intestinal worms, including roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and threadworms, as well as tissue parasites like tapeworms and certain larval infections such as neurocysticercosis and hydatid disease. The medication is generally safe, with mild side effects such as abdominal discomfort, nausea, or headache. However, it should be used cautiously in pregnant women and individuals with liver problems.
